How to fix mysql-server depends on mysql-server-5.5; however: Package mysql-server 5.5 is not configured yet.

Recently while attempting to setup a new GitLab server on Ubuntu 14.04 using my iGitLab installer script, I ran into an issue when the script attempted to install MySQL (mysql-server) through APT.  The specific error was  dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of mysql-server: mysql-server depends on mysql-server-5.5; however: Package mysql-server-5.5 is not configured yet.

I tried removing MySQL and reinstalling, even attempted to configure through mysql-server-5.5, none of which worked, but luckily I did find a way to easily fix this …

Perl CPAN DBD::mysql error “FAILED–Further testing stopped” after upgrading Watch MySQL (XSLoader.pm, libmysqlclient.so)

I recently ran into an issue with Perl connecting to MySQL after upgrading a plugin for cPanel/WHM called Watch MySQL. After going through the logs files I determined the error was with a missing dependency file XSLoader.pm and libmysqlclient.so. How to fix cPanel Roundcube “An error occurred! Could not save the contact address”

Recently I came across the issue where a cPanel user logged into Roundcube webmail and was unable to add a contact to address book.  The specific error that Roundcube output on the screen was “An error occurred! Could not save the contact address.” which meant Roundcube had to have something other than a web error as everything else worked perfectly fine.  Well turns out it was actually  (more…)
